We used to feel smug about just how much cheaper our weekly groceries used to be here, compared to Waitrose at Wokingham. Sure, not everything was available, but we could eat. Grocery shopping is a two-person deal in our household, I fill up the cart, the man pays. Except it had been a hectic weekend, so I did both yesterday. And paid attention to prices for the first time in a while. Perhaps it would have been better to be in ignorance. Some things are not 30% more expensive than a year ago. The choice in Wokingham is looking more attractive by the day.
The relentless rising cost of living says it with numbers.
